Jumpholes & other secrets

Anyone found any special secrets they'd like to share?

So far this is all I've found: In new york, there's a huge minefield owned by the navy, restricted area. I haven't been able to go into it without blowing up, but there's an "unknown jumpgate" in the middle.

I've also found jumpholes:
Texas-> Colorado
New York -> Colorado

I'm also trying to explore the Hokkaido System, Kasari sector, but I'm having difficulty. The people in one of the bars have informed me there are 2 jumpholes...but I've only managed to find a construction site. One of the sites they said there was a jumphole to, Chogoku, is currently inaccessible through the jumpgate (still under construction). So where is the jump hole? It's uncharted territory as far as the universe map you're given says.

Oh yeah, if you feel like exploring yourself, be warned, the black area of the map (areas out of the cloud) are all radiation areas...

I believe the unknown jumpgate you're talking about is the one to (spoiler) the Alaska system. You can only access that one during the final plot mission.

The easiest way of finding hidden jumpholes/gates is to just follow the patrol routes in a system. 99% of jumpholes are patrolled by at least one faction in the area.

this might be better suited for the spoilers forum.

you end up getting led by the nose to lots of jumpholes.

One thing I found that's really useful is to use the "view patrols" option on the sector map. Look for neutrals or friendlies (for pirate-types), if they have patrols converging on one spot, it's either a jumphole or a base. Or both.

Best way to explore and unknown system is to turn on patrol routes on you map. Then set waypoints along a route and see if it goes someplace that is worth going to. Also, you can hail a passing ship, and odds are, it will tell you where it is from, and where it is going... and if it isn't headed towards a trade lane, might as well join in formation and get an armed escort tour guide.
