Global Events

I think with a expansion or patch they should add Global Events. Every once in a while, say, at least 1 every two weeks or so, have a random news post appear that changes all or most or just once system. There shouldnt be a massive amount, just enough to keep things exciting, say for example you go Manhattan to Pittbursh selling mining machinery for 1,500 a piece (just a example, i know its not real) well, after doing it long enough, reaping the benefits of getting a better ship, etc,etc (and none of this affected by you, instead simply made by game). You get a news post saying "Pirate Contingency Higher In LIberty Than Ever Before" and afterwards the price goes from 1,500 to 1,700 and a large variety of special missions appear to remedy that certain event. Lets say every base gets 7-9 more difficult but more detailed special missions that have to do with that certain event.

So this thing in liberty, all around bases and planets tons of new unique jobs appear, available only as long as the event lasts (this event eventually simply "Expires". So before there were none, but now you see a bunch of "escorty convoy" missions appear, which have you escorting convoys around liberty for profit. Or see some Patrol Base missions appear which have you defending a base that is a supposed target. And near the end of this random event, you see some "Treaty" missions, which have you either delivering documents, escorting people or guarding a base while the event brings itself to a close (albeit this event ends even without players doing these missions).

Like for example, there could be a galaxy wide post on "Artifact Smuggling On The Rise in Kusari Space" after which, all of kusari pays less for artifacts for a limited time, and around kusari bases "Destroy Smuggling Convoy" missions appear, which have you destroying convoys that smuggle artifacts, heck, they could even put a unique twist on the "Destroy Loot" missions, which have you locating and terminating loot ships drop. There doesnt have to be many of these unique ones, there would be Localized, Space-Wide and Galaxy Wide, Localized affecting only that area of space, and galaxy wide affecting everything, everywhere, and space-side which affects only those under the same capital (Kusari, Rheinland, Liberty, Hispania). And not many, maybe about 20-30 different types of each.

Or a localized event could be that the Liberty Navy puts a embargo on lets say, West Point Academy (random bases and planets of course), where a certain commodity is put down as Contraband for a limited time, and you could have missions where you Scan ships and locate it, then arrest or destroy them, or missions for others where you smuggle it into the base. Among others, such as Trade missions (carry stuff from point a to point b), Rescue missions (where you go, find a ship, it forms on you and you escort it back to a certain base) etc, etc. And, these dont exactly have to be Event Missions, there can be random missions, and event related missions, or a mix of both for the rescue, escort missions, etc. And to top it off, they can place Bounty Parties, where the news posts a bounty on a certain pilot, a uniquely named ship somewhere in the system, with his own wing, and once you find him, if you kill him and his comrades, then bring back his lifepod (ejectable unlike mission related pods) to the system that posted the bounty, and you get a cash reward, but these would not be missions, simply another board called the Bounty Board.

Where you see the names of certain pilots, and maybe sometimes even their general area (Santiago Diaz was last seen pirating the lanes heading from Manhattan, to West Point to Pittsburgh, 5,000 C reward for succesful capture). And they could have 2 different ones, the mentioned ones, and the "Wanted Dead Or Alive" ones, where once you kill him you gather proof of his termination and collect your Pay. Bounty boards could be a lot of fun, just a like a job board but much bigger, with simply names and bounties posted, and some being deadlier then others, with small fish being given a general search area, and the big mafiosos given a VERY vague location area. This would inspire players to search around for their prey, and they could post a new one every few days. As for all those other unique global events, they could be very random, one could happen once and then again 9 days later, or 3 weeks later. So their not COMMON, still RARE, somewhere in the middle.

So players still make a big deal about it, ya know, meet another player outside Curacao and its like "Hey! you hear about the embargo on pittsburgh in liberty? they paying twice as much for H-FUel! and its like Good Deal Man! thanks! im gonna go make some cash before this offer passes me up!". ok, enough now, my hands are falling apart, enjoy the article.

It is annoying, isn't it?

But, it's not all bad! You have learnt something, as a result of this experience you are a better person.

Erk *WIBBLE* pfffffft!

Actually, the term "global" confines it on just one world. "Interstellar" would be more appropriate

I think this is a great idea for adding some extra depth to the MP Servers...
