You can''t escape your past.

Well, when I was in Kusari space I spent a fair amount of time slaughtering the Kusari police and pirating from Samura Heavy Industries. Naturally after a while I fled to the relative peace of New York for a break. Everyone in New York is still on the green side of neutral to me, at least.

So I dock at Baltimore Shipyard, everything is fine. When I launch back into space, EVERYTHING is hostile to me, firing away. The reason?

Samura ships had entered the vicinity, and since they are hostile to me, everything else became hostile to me too. I found that to be quite annoying. At the most, Samura should still be red to me, attacking me, but nothing else.

I don't think there's a fix for this problem, aside from not pirating. But be forewarned if you decide to "escape" your past by going to another system, because it may catch back up to you.

yeah I had a problem like that earlier because I wanted to dock with a lane hackers base but the outcasts were still hostile to me and they all ganged up on me and destroyed me before I could get there

Yup I'm a full blown pirate and this happens to me all the time... I consider it a bug more then anything just becase a trader faction attacks you all the police and everyone else around you SHOULDNT do the same!!!

I don't know, it kinda makes sense...

If I am an enemy with one group, I can expect that anyone who is allied or even semi-neutral with that group will become my enemy as well.

So the lesson is; be careful who you piss off.

It makes perfect sense. The police factions are friendly with "house corporations" which most likely includes Samura. When the police sees you vs a Samura convoy, they have to choose somebody because they're police, that's their job, so they usually pick the corporation. If you are extremely friendly with the police and your enemy is only neutral with the police, they may sometimes favor you.

That happened to me when I was docked at the Rogue base in Cortez. I was friendly with the rogues and had been running missions for them killing bounty hunters. Then I launched and everyone attacked me. I couldn't figure it out until just know. I remember that there were some Outcast ships there and they hated me, so the Rogues must've sided up with them.

So I died and relaunched a couple of times (I hate cruise disruptors). I finally got out by taking a mission. When you're on a mission it seems the only people who will be hostile to you are the mission targets. Once you finish the mission you're fair game again. I haven't proved this yet, but it seems to hold true.

This seems to be true to me. While you are on a mision, you are perfectly safe from everybody who hates you. Observe on a mission that takes you out near a jump gate in Liberty space. The jump gates are always scenes of constant battle with Xenos and Outcasts. And you'll see one as exit the trade lane at the jump gate and make the turn out to the last waypoint. Bullets flying everywhere, the usual radio chatter, but it's all green cops and neutral Xenos. Nobody notices you at all.

Looks right to me. Imagine this:

The silence of space. There is a flash when a Samura transport drops out of the tradelane. He's en route to the nearby Newark station and about to unload some cargo from Kusari. A few seconds later a little ship, designation Freelancer Alpha 1-1, leaves the surface of Planet Manhatten.

Aboard the Samura transport, the pilot is making a routine sensorcheck while his co-pilot already is initiating pre-docking procedures. Now this happens:

Pilot: "What the...? Did you just see that? There's that son of a bitch who killed our friends in the tradelane attack last week!"

Co-Pilot: "Are you serious? I thought we wouldn't see him anymore now that everyone is after him back home..."

Pilot: "Yes, me too, but this seems to be our lucky day. Ok, let's bring him down with a little help from our friends".

Radio-chatter on a secure channel reserved for industry and police communication: "Attention to all fellow ships in the area! This is Samarua Industries Beta Niner Oh Seven, we've just spotted a fugitive pirate who is responsible for several unprovoked killings in the Kusari sector. Designation: Freelancer Alpha One Dash One, i repeat, Freelancer Alpha One Dash One!"

A nearby police patrol: "Wait a second! This is Manhatten Police Delta Four Oh Four, do you have proof for your accusations?"

Samura Pilot: "You bet we have! Transmitting sensor log of the recent attacks..."

Police: "Checking... ok, looks like it's valid and true.To all units in the area: we have a record on Freelancer Alpha One Dash One. He's a fugitive from the Kusari sector guilty of mass murder during a pirate raid last week. Engage at will but be advised: he must be considered extremly dangerous.

Random transport in the vicinity: "We heard you, Manhatten Police. We will provide covering fire if you don't mind. This pirate scum has to disappear once and for all."

Police: "Roger that. Be my guest... let's get it over with. Engaging!"

And all hell breaks loose.
