What are the eyepieces the AI wear?

I notice alot of the AI characters have a big red eyepiece over one eye and even some that have little goggles with red lenses. Does anyone know what they are supposed to be used for in the game? Is it just for looks and you aren't supposed to question, or personal eye computers, or infrared vision, or what?

Now they call it the neural net, is that just a name and it's just a information computer worn on your head or is it actually wired into your brain like the name "neural" makes it sound like?

Well Trent has one and you can't see it on the outside of his body, so I would say that it's wired directly to your brain...

The eyepiece is actually Trent's personal porn browser. It keeps the labido going even when trading or bounty hunting.
