WARNING!! before you waste too much time.

At a certain point in the single player game I wasted many hours building up factions which I actually considered as future assets, these factions however get reset when the SP game finishes and you have to rebuild them from scratch. So, dont waste your time getting friendly with everyone unless absolutely necessary for exploration or trading purposes until the SP game finishes and you are free to do whatever you want.

PS: Since I am not english native please pardon my errors.

Your english was better than a lot of people who use english as their primary language....

Agreed Danielsan, and yes, your english is just fine.

Being a bit sensitive on anything that may be considered "inside info" since many still don't have the game, and are either waiting or playing the demo, so I'll move this over to the good ol' spoiler forum.... whoosh...

i wouldn't say it's a spoiler....more like a general tip. imagine someone who just starts out with the game, doesn't want to even look at the spoiler forum, spends time and money on fractions just so see them "reset" at the end of the SP missions...

I say: no spoiler

I agree, this is good general knowledge for a first time player. I wasted a lot of time and money working on my rep, only to see it changed instantly by the next story mission. "What? I just got on the Bounty Hunters' good side, now they all want me dead?"

Don't take this as a complaint. I loved the story, and the changes in rep actually make it more interesting, as you get to work for various factions, shooting down all kinds of ships. :-)

But I don't see any real problem with warning people that changes will come and that money spent bribing people to change your rep could be better spent elsewhere.

Please dont move this thread, I really wasted many hours shooting down "X" faction to get a better "Y" faction.. to no use at all, I too dont consider this to be a spoiler, more like a general behaviour ingame which would be best avoided until the SP finishes.

Agreed. I would rate this as critical, must know information for first time players straight out of the demo.

You have no idea how irritated I was by the game's ending. What, everything reset to default and me the recent recipient of a <insert forgotten name here> medal? Geat real... not!

So, I laid off FL for half a day while I hacked the mission 13 INI file, the results of which were :

A more realistic set of faction ratings based on who they are and what they're feelings might be towards your participation in the Nomad campaign. Military groups all love you. Police like you as you're a medal recipient but they don't know why, exactly. Bounty hunters think you got a medal for kicking ass and that suits them fine but not too much. Xenos think you're a turd and should be thrown into a neutron star. Zoners never heard of you. Corsairs never heard of you. Red Hessians don't care. Junkers don't care but like you as business is better as a result. Ditto with lane hackers. Lane Hackers, Blood Dragons and Bundschuh all love you (you were invited to their bases!!) Liberty Rogues are iffy, they don't entirely trust you, Ageira wants you exterminated on sight - but don't dare due to your powerful friends - for removing a wonderful source of free alien test subjects. Outcasts think you're a joke and no better. Hell, see how you cope in the edge worlds, eh?

Anyway. w00t! The post-campaign game is MUCH more realistic, and enjoyable, as a result.

Oh, and I reopened all the re-sealed campaign wormholes and bases.

Not that I remember where they were...

Personally, I didn't consider it to be a waste of time working factions in single player. The fact the plot mangles them was a fantastic surprise to me, and not a negative one. Think of how boring the game would be if the single player campaign played out in a monotonous predictable manner with no real repercussions to your character?

Wow. I had no idea about that. Thanks for the tip!!

Btw, that BLOWS. Awful feature.
