Yeah, but that's not really a good intro to the BC universe. BC3K 2.0 is a DOS title with no 3D acceleration (it may support Glide if you have an old Voodoo card). It's fairly stable, but you should get the patches to get it up to 2.08 (or is it 9?).
Next time you're in an EB store, ask them if they have any copies of Battlecruiser Millenium left. At least that's a Windows title with DirectX support. BCM is probably down to about five or ten bucks now, a year after initial release. There is supposed to be a Gold version coming in a few months, so they may be willing to unload the original edition for cheap.
Either way, buy yourself a ream of paper and get ready to spend some quality time with the game manual. All of the Battlecruiser games are very complicated, and they tend to have their own ideas about user interface design. They are the Everclear to Freelancer's white wine spritzer.
