getting max cargo?

Whenever I decide to attack a transport ship loaded with cargo. I have to destroy it to get anything. Now that's obviously the only thing you can do(?). But when you do that you only get about 1% of the whole cargo if that. Is there a way to get at least half of the cargo floating round in space after you've destroyed a ship.

i actually haven't tried that lately: try shooting the containers on a superfreighter.

I've tried that but I still don't get more cargo. It just blows up their compartments.

Did you scan the ship before if it actually carries something? You can't trust their reports when hailing them. It's a flaw in the game that you better don't discuss here.

yeah it would be cool if you could get a train to eject all of its cargo. But if that were possible they would need to be incredibly tough ships and also have some incredibly tough escorts. But it would be oh so fun organizing a party of attackers and some support freighters to carry the stuff off.

maybe the cargo gets destroyed when the ship blows up? lol

Would be cool to msg the cargo ship to drop all cargo..

Or just do like i-war2 and make 'em drop it all when they get to like 20% health left. Nice and simple

Though it would be neat to get 'em to drop it due your reputation alone
