New To This Freelancer

Hi, my names Jon, and yes im an egosoft (x-btf, x-t) veteran, since 1999 i have been playing the x-games. Im not here to sell you the game. Im here to ask you guys for info about freelancer.

Im not new to the game, but ive been concentraing my views on X2.
Im here to ask you about the best bits of freelancer, is it worth having a look at?
Im not here to take the michael, and im form UK. And i am truely interested in FL. But before i go out and buy it, i am asking about this games features.

Im only asking because of the bad publicity FL has had recently. So i am quite cuisous about the game, especially as i heard its not joystick compatable.

Basicly sell me the game

Regards

Hi! Freelancer is not a hardcore simulation by any means. It would help to know exactly what you're excited about in X2. For example, if you really like exploration, trading, and focusing on one fighter than you will really like Freelancer. If you're more into empire building and owning a fleet of ships, FL may not appeal to you as much. Like I said, FL definitely isn't hardcore, but it is enjoyable. I've gotten a lot of hours out of the game, more than I do from most. At the very least, it will more than hold you over until X2

If you haven't already, I really suggest you DL the demo, there's links all over the place. While it doesn't give you a real feel for trading (you need multiple systems for that) it gives a good idea of the game's style and how the mouse control works. IMO, the mouse control it's totally better than joystick, though having a stick and throttle is a great feeling

Yup - try the demo. That'll help you know if it's for you or not. A good indicator is if you look for ways to keep playing after you trigger the money limit.

If you manage to get friendly with the rogues, you can do a bit of real trading and smuggling, you can buy cardamine from Buffalo base and ship it to Manhatten (if you're still friendly enough with them).

If you don't want to be on good terms with the rogues and you're a really good pilot, you could alternately hover around Buffalo base and shoot every ship that appears until one of them drops diamonds, gold, or cardamine, then ship that to whatever location has the highest price for it.

There are only 10 kinds of people in the world:
those who understand binary, and those who don't.
