The random missions are ridiculously shallow

Seven years in development or whatever and is all we get for job board/bar missions is basically:

Fly to X, kill everything, maybe tractor in some cargo; then either the mission is completed or you have to fly to Y and repeat. WTH?

No trade missions. No explore missions. No escort missions. No recon/scan something missions. No taking out capital ships or anything larger than something you yourself can pilot.

Whats the reason for this? I mean, the main plot is terrific, but the 'freelancing' part of this game is very poor.

Been discussed pretty thoroughly here. Most of us agree, and hope for an addon pack or possible modding to create more. Best I've found is to enjoy all elements of the game, and maybe see more missions available in the future. Personally, after a long day at the office, getting my three kids to finally go to bed, I kind of enjoy some rather mindless and satisfying "blow them all to pieces" type missions.

Much of the game, I've found, is about exploring, finding hidden areas, tweaking reputations...having the random missions is something of an "extra", IMHO.

Everybody here agrees that the random missions are not Freelancers best point, but most of us are living with it... *Click*
