i asked about the jump hole from new berlin to sigma 13,
i belive the reason i was banned was because someone asked me if i have a warezed copy, i said yes, and then i was banned. I realize warez is not tolerated, but still, of all the people in the irc channel, im pretty sure at least 1 or 2 other guys are using warezed copy, so why not ban them too? I simply did not wish to lie so i told the truth and i was banned? Maybe next time i'll just pretend i have legit copy and not be banned. besides whos to say that im not going to buy the game when it comes out? I find it hard to belive that of all the people posting about the game on this forum and irc have a legit copy.
Anways, its your irc channel, you can do whatever you want, but im just trying to make a point saying that its stupid to ban a person for admiting that he has a warezed copy, when there are tons of other guys doing the same thing except not admiting it

theres alot of people that are banned for having warez. Theres no way to know unless the person admits having it, so while some do get to stay in that have it, the mods cant prove that they have warez. However, even without proof, chances are ya wont get spoiler info there cause the common concensus is that unless youve been around awhile and are known to have beta, your assumed to have warez by the people in there, so they dont get much help. Thatll all change tomorrow im sure, since its released. Then the assumption will have to be that most people got a legal copy.

Thank you for being honest, but unfortunately it is a double edged sword.

It is true, there are probably a lot of people on the forum and maybe the IRC that have the warez copy. Such is life and there is nothing we can do about it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but TLR has to support the policy of only legal copies being allowed here. Its a case of politics, and real economics.

Unfortunately, as in a lot of real life, the fact that you admitted to having a warez copy, means that the powers that be have no choice but to ban you, if they didn't they would attract the wrath of those much more powerful than they. Rememer this is a fan site, and basically it is run on the dedication and goodwill of a few individuals.

So, I am sorry that you got banned, I think it took a tremendous strength of character to admit it and to question the decision made by the administration.

However, my best advice is, come back to the IRC when you have bought the retail version of the game.

Just so you know, I am in no way affiliated with TLR or the Admin, this is just my personal observations.

Well they did the right thing. Warez is not tolerated. It is a federal offense. Lancer Reactor wants nothing to do with fedral crimes. Also there are quite a few people who have the PR Beta, they for what ever reason got the privledge from Microsoft to have it.

If you got caught with illegal copies of games,music, or movies. Then you went to court. Do you really think that if you tell the judge that you were going to buy it anyways, that the judge would let you off? No, the judge will not. You would be fined thousands of dollars and maybe sent to prison.
So STOP justifying that you are going to buy it anyways. IT IS STILL ILLEGAL NO MATTER HOW YOU JUSTIFY IT.
Warez is riuning the computer game industry. I need to start doing my part.
I am going to contact my local FBI office and ask them what I can do.
They'll tell me where I can report this kind of crap.

The warez channel IS NOT TLR's! It is owned and run by Portalive. Take it up with him. It's his channel and irc server.

They can also tell you have a warez copy if you're hanging out in #freelancer and #warez and #warez4kiddies... You can easily see all the channels someone is in on IRC by doing a lookup on them.. Forget the exact command. SO if you don't want to get banned, buy a copy... or at least kill your warez chatting/ f-serving until you are done freelancing on IRC.

Again - we do not own the channel, though we do work together with Freelancer Portal about the IRC channel. It is their rules that govern the channel, and any complaints about it should be brought to Albino Eatpod, the admin of the site.
