Demo: Abandoned Bounty Hunter Ship in Badlands

After spending way too much time improving my rep with the Bounter Hunter's Guild, I was able to pay one of them 6k credits for information about an abandoned ship drifting in the Badlands. I believe the information was purchased at the bar in either the Battleship Missouri or the Newport Shipyard, but location is probably not that important.

So I head off to the Badlands to see what's up, and indeed, there is a ship just waiting to be salvaged. I can't remember exactly what class it is, but the weapons it is carrying are definately not available through the regular channels. Does anyone know if there's anything you can do with this ship in the demo? I was unable to tractor it and before I could destroy it, in an attempt to salvage some of its weapons, I was visited by a rather irate squaron of Rogues that priority mailed me a salvo of missiles before I could get my engines back online.

So anyways, either the demo does not equip the player with the required options to make use of this find, or I have yet to realize its purpose. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
mossberg

With the abandoned ships, if you shoot them once they should drop a bunch of cargo which you can then tractor in.

Just shoot it, and the weapons will fall off. Tractor them in, and get the heck outa there.

(EDIT) Oops, someone beat me.

I was flying through the Badlands and was checking my map when I saw a big red X in it's midst. Of course it was the aforementioned wreckage. You also get the radiation warning when you get too close. Anyway, I saw a bunch of items floating around the wreckage and tractored them in with no problem, then I destroyed the ship, but nothing came of it.

The guns you get are gunslingers, and you can get those from killing bounty hunters that are flying around the universe. Not just from salvaging the stuff.

Yeah, but when you attack live Bounty Hunters you will get into some serious trouble while roaming about New York. That doesn't happen when you salvage the guns from a derelict vessel.

@heretic: the badlands are the big purple cloud you can see from everywhere in the system. But be careful: it has an awfull lot of ro gue s in there.
