Get used to it, every single person in the entire galaxy says the same stuff the first time you talk to them, and then they switch to an alternate speech they all say for the 2nd/3rd/4rd/infinity time. And everyone, EVERYONE, says the annoying "We dont own this place, but we have an agreement with the people that do" except the people that own the place, they say "This is our base."

It would have been easier to just assume everyone in the galaxy has under the table relations with everyone else, and if they don't, then have them say "Its funny, we actually don't have any kind of understand with the people that run this place, nor do we own it."

It tells Trent's full name later in the game.

I won't spoil it here, but its so stupid there is a reason he never uses it.

I always got the impression that Trent was famous, everywhere I go - even though it's my first time in the system - its "Trent, good to see you again".

His first name is Edison and last Trent. I like Trent Edison better to tell you the truth but doesnt really matter since everyone in game calls you Trent anyway.

Have you noticed the same people are not in the bars each time? When they see you for the first time of course they are going to say " you are new here are'nt you?" If later you see those you have met before they will say, " glad to you see you again Trent". Do not say the dialog is allways the same in the game..it depends on the situation and your rep with that group the person works for.

Some people are just trying to pick the game apart because they are ticked it does not have every single little thing perfect for them. If you have a concern about the game...email support at Microsoft games. I plan on doing just that after I get to play the full version for a while with my concerns and hopes for a patch or expansion. Buy the game first..so Microsoft will have interest in supporting it.

if it wasn't for the escape button, i would never go to the frigging bar!!! that stupid dialog got old after 2 seconds. instead of making those voiceovers, they could have provided more content for derelict ships (background stories, location info etc.). one more thing, am i the only person who thinks that ian ziering clown was a complete waste of money? his fee could have paid the salary for few more developers/level designers or whatever. i still think freelancer is a very good game, but i am very dissapointed because it could have been so much more.

and what have a programmer do the voice of trent? I've seen that done before and it's not a pretty sight.
I personally think Ian did a pretty good job, however some of the NPC's are a bit debatable. The Liberty Rogues sound more like Jehova's Witness than hardened criminals.
