Newbie questions

As the topic says: I'm a total newbie.
I'm playing Freelancer a couple of days now and I'm totally addicted. But when I'm reading some of the topics here I painfully realise I'm a total newbie. That hurts so I want a answer to a simple question.

"How do I get the best experience from Freelancer?!?!"

I hear everyone about hacking lanes and flying patrols and the likes. That sounds very cool and I REALLY want to know how to do the really cool stuff in the game.

Thanks in advance guys, NJ.

Easy!

First let me be the first to welcome you.

As for the "Freelancer Experiance" (tm)...Thats quite easy. Do EVERYTHING, don't rush into the story line missions only because they are presented to you, don't just take the random missions and feel they are all the same...Take time to travel, see the sites, meet the people....Then blow them up.

Do some Pirating, wanna hack lanes? easy, fire at the lane rings, when you disable one, all traffic will drop into normal speed. Wanna pirate? Easy, hit those big corporations where it hurts!, go find the jump holes the pirates and low life scum of Serius use, hit them hard, grab the goods and run for it. I've played the demo for 12hr's (game time) and still havn't found all the jump holes!, there are bases i havn't visited (They hate my guts, and i'm too lazy to do anything about that now).

So i think u have alot to do...And when you feel you have maxed out? Join us on a persistent MP server and build up you player, align yourself with a faction and GET TO WORK 8)

Enjoy!

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tan Hauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die.

Experience is really just a total of your net worth, cargo, ship price, equipment loaded. Later in the game, you'll heve to earn missions to advance to the next level, but as long as on your sttas screen it give a credit amount for lvl up then thats all you need to get there. When you need to do a mission to advance it will say "MISSION"

So as said do everything, but one of the easiest ways to make money initially is to run cargo. There are dome very profitable trade routes out there in the NY system.

Fill up your hold and run the cargo. You'll make money in no time and you can do this quickly without much fighting if you stay close to the inner bases.

Look in the spoilers forum for best trade routes.

"If this is what you want to do, you'll do it, no matter how long it takes..........and usually the longer it takes the more fun you've had!"
