demo terminated permaturely

hi everyone... I was wondering if anyone had the demo end on them prematurely

I have played it for 2 days now and had to restart new games at least 4 times now to continue playing 'cause very time the demo would throw me into the "Buy Freelance" ad flash screen then quits to desktop when i was closer to reaching the next level.

Naturally i was unable to see everything or try everhting in the demo.

I first thought it was a buildin limitation on the demo but nobody else seems to have this problem.

Can anyone speculate or shed some light on this???

It is a limitation. The demo ends when you get to level 2. But you can definitely explore the whole system before then. Just keep your credits below the 28K limit and you'll be fine.

It is a built in limitation, however there are some hacked save games around that stop it from kicking you, but they do this by stoping you from ever reaching lv 2

Actually, I was thrown out prematurely once, with less that 16k credits. It happened when I filled a Patriot with a an expensive trade good at a low price.

Reloaded a save game and have played for hours since.

Its based on your current worth....not how much cash you have, everything including ship, weapons, cargo. Check your stats screen

"If this is what you want to do, you'll do it, no matter how long it takes..........and usually the longer it takes the more fun you've had!"

Yes, I understand total worth - that was not the issue as I could reload the pre-purchase save and continue playing. Net worth 16k both ways.

When you bought the goods, it probably did an averaging of sorts to determine your total worth. The stuff was worth more than what you bought it for, correct? So the game possibly gave you the "level credit" even before you sold the goods to get a profit.

Ah, this has happent to me a couple of times too... rather annoying, always happens after completing a mission.

Truly excellent game anyway. I love the radio chatter in the background, all those ships going here and there completely independent of me. All different from Privateer, where those Merchants just hung in space, making intelligent conversations like:
Me: What's up. pal?
Him: Good to see a friendly ship.
Me: Relax, your cargo is safe with me.
Him: Just a passing merchant, don't get nervous!
Me: How's the going, friend?
Him: How's the business treating you
Me: Business is good.
Him: How's the going, pal?
Me: Business is good.
Him: Maybe we can do business some time.
Me: Keep your distance
Him: How's the going, pal?

Of what I answer "Heathen! Taste Righteous Fire!" and prepare my tractor beams for use.
