Thanks for the effort Bargib. I'd be very impressed, and grateful, if you managed to change their minds.

I'd enter if it wasn't only for the US...

might write something still.... never know

Well, if you can get a rule change i'll give it a go.

I'm going to enter, and if I win, I'll do my own contest for people outside the US. I'll give away the autographed copy of the game as a prize (I'll have already bought my own copy by then, so having another would be useless to me)
I'm keeping the t-shirt for myself, though!

Bargib's right, it's just a matter of legaleze, we're fine with sending STUFF to BFE (aka Australia!)

So go ahead and enter if you're not from the US, I will turn my head!

I'd enter if I had any writing talent to speak of. Sad thing is I have so many original stories and no way to express them. I've started numerous Wing Commander stories that never went anywhere due to my lack of talent being realized.

I remember one story I had was based around a Confed corvette which was designed to get where others could not. It had some unique holographic abilities, like being able to mask itself both in sensors and visually, or create holograms of other ships to scare off enemies.

Anyway...

Good luck to anyone who takes on the challenge.

Is it still open today? Like, does it close at midnight? Because I've had exams and crap to handle as I'm in college, so I haven't had a chance to work on it, but I want to enter it. I"ll submit it tonight if it's still open.

Good luck to all. Gosh, I feel really bad that I haven't worked on anything, given how much effort it took to set up the contest in the first place. I honestly would've needed the deadline to be after my spring break, though.

I finshed mine up late last night, it's 11 double spaced pages of Freelancer goodness. 3,193 words. I think I may have went overboard.

I was really thinking about entering until I found out that the basics of the story were already there. I'd really prefer to start on my own with my own work.

Post Fri Mar 14, 2003 10:04 pm

I hear you, kak. That's why I entered, because I didn't feel bad about MS gaining the rights to my work, simply because the story was basically already written for me. Maybe I'll work on my own story now.

I sent in my story last night. It's about 10 pages, and I had an absolute blast writing it. Good luck to everyone in the contest- I can't wait to read the results!

Here's a small excerpt from my story, just to get your juices flowing.

"They say battles are like nanobots- you take them, you use them, and you find new ones. I had been through so many battles that it didn’t matter much anymore. The pay is good and the action keeps my heart beating, but really the who’s and where’s of your life just begin to blend together. Khan was just another target, another soul whose fate would be determined by a larger force. Liberty wanted Khan in custody, and I wanted to get paid."
