INTRO VS INTRO

just thoought i might post my 2 cents worth and get some feedback about the intro of the game.

just thought that the intro was cut to shreds and looked like a bad puzzle put back with the wrong peices as opposed to the first intro that was posted here on TLR way back and can still be download from...

why did they cut out the nomads from the intro .. i played the SP and really didnt see it that it needed to be cut out like it did. it just seems like they might have changed the whole game story to fit the shortened intro....

still a nice intro but the first one was just so much nicer

sorry intro critic here

I thought the intro was alright. I thought it could have been more dramatic - like showing it from Trent's perspective, with him dragging the guy who owes him money to the escape pod with him. That sort of thing. The whole "outside, looking in" thing is okay with me, though. It just left me wondering how Trent survived such an explosion. I didn't know until I finally read Trent's personal log.

Yeah it could have been better but hopefully they will make up for in other parts of the porgram!

My understanding was the intro was pretty long and would have required another disk. Short, cynical answer, edited, it saves Uncle Bill a few pennies per unit.

It's long enough as it is so i'm glad it was edited.

Hmm... at least the current intro has some nice music (while the previous ones were put in from various soundtracks).

So... those jellyfish-looking aliens were called the Nomads, right?

And in the full game they were put out (or so)?

I see many reasons why they could have cut the nomads from the (prerendered) intro:
1) they've reserved the option now that the coalition still exists, maybe for another game?
2) The nomads like they were shown in the intro contradict something said in the campaign (won't mention it, big spoiler)
3) ok, there was something, but i forgot it..

Well they refocussed the game.
With the nomad intro they would have to make the main storyline completely different, well you see those nomads destroying our solar system, how the hell could one freelancer defeat them. I guess they balanced it out.

I thought there was only one intro before the official one. And the only soundtrack that was used was James Horner's score from "Aliens - The Return". Or did i miss another intro?

That part when the Coalition ships were charging in for their last assault, sounds like a 'song' from the "Wrath of Kahn" soundtrack (I think it's called 'surprise attack') Which was also composed by James Horner...maybe they used the same part for "Aliens - The Return".

Then that last part when the title came up (and the whole '800 yearls later' thing), that sounds like the beginning of Predator (by Alan Silvestri). I really liked the music in the old intro because IMO, those 2 composers are really good at what they do.

Although the intro has been changed, it doesn't matter so much to me. Well I still have the old intro and I can watch it any time I want.

Wouldn't make me wonder. James Horner loves to steal from himself.

didn't Basil Poledouris (sp?) compose the music to Predator?

But yep, the "original" intro had music from Wrath of Khan, Aliens and the very end Predator...
it's the one you can find in the download section here at TLR
