Anyone read the customer reviews @ EBGames?

EVERY negative review has something to do with the fact that Freelancer has no joystick support.

They don't know anything about the game, all they can say is, "NO JOYSTICK?? Forget that!!"

Man, after playing the demo, all I can say is, the mouse control is nearly flawless. Having to playing the WC and Freespace games with a joystick, it just feels... Different. Not bad, just different after using the mouse.

I find it easier to play FL than SL. The mouse controls are like in Mechwarriors 3. I love them.

Well enlighten them, with a calm and well argued riposte that explains why FL does not have or need a stick and why FL is a fun action adventure game not a spaceflight sim.

I never read those EB reviews, it makes me depressed that there is so many judgemental and stupid people out there.

Yeah it's ok their just some kid's crying over joystick's their just stuck back in the Atari days. They will get up to date one of these day's just take's longer for some folk's than other's!

They had some of those reviews up months ago. It's just people that hear the game won't have joystick support and they feel they need to complain somewhere. It's probably the same person doing it over and over. I think it's pretty odd that they let people review a game before it's even close to being out. The first one on there was done in June of 2000! So take them with a grain of salt.

Well I was devistated when I found out that there would be no joystick support. I was horribly afraid that somthing I have looked forward to for a loooooong time (when FL's development was still a rumor) was going to turn into somthing I wouldn't want to play!

Unlike others, I did some research at different places (including here @ LR) and tried to learn exactly how the new controls were going to be implimented. It was difficult since some mouseflight advocates tend to just flame joystick jockys without giving decent information.

I realised after a while that the new system showed promise and was willing to give it the benifit of the doubt (I mean I think that the method of piloting the shuttles on Earth Final Conflict is very cool and I like to think of the mouseflight as somthing similar. It's not a bad way to control a ship just different.)

Now that I have played the demo, I am quite happy with the control system.
