Personaly, I would have liked if it were more realistic. But the smallish nature of the systems does have a nice feel to it, being able to jaunt around without too much fuss. In i-war 2 they had to resort to the LDS, which actualy let you travel several times the speed of light. Too bad you can't actualy arrive somewhere before you even left in that game..hehe. But that game had an awesome huge epic feel to the space environment.

No, what I meant was that the Freelancer website actually describes the planet in SI units -
Diameter: 12,753 km.
Mass: 5.98 x 10e24 kg.
Terrain: Terrestrial
Temperature: -46°C to 43°C
Escape Velocity: 11.27 km/sec
Correct figures for planet Earth (from The Nine Planets web site http://seds.lpl.arizona.edu/billa/tnp/earth.html) -
Diameter: 12,756.3 km
Mass: 5.972e24 kg
Escape Velocity: 11100 m/s (from a physlink.com)
And I was wrong about the escape velocity, they do have the correct figure. When I first read it I thought I saw an extra 10e3 in there. My mistake.
