A Geforce question

I am the happy owner of a Geforce 4 4200 ti, and every time i launch the demo, a little window appears , saying : Freelancer does not recognize your 3D card, do you want to launch it anyway etc... I click yes, and everything runs perfectly, but i was wondering if it was normal... Maybe, if my 3D card was recognized, the game would be even more beautiful and fast . Who knows? Anyone saw that thing azs well?

I have the same card, 128MB version from MSI, but not your problem.

I downloaded the demo last night and also got the same window when starting the game. Leadtech GF4 4200 thingy. Game runs fine although some of the cut scenes are a little (but only vey slightly) ****y. Thats probably due to some other part of the PC though..

same thing happened to me, w/ 4600ti. no adverse effects yet, with all settings cranked to the max!

I have a Geforce 2 MX. I got an error message that I didn't have the latest drivers but it still looked good. I downloaded the latest drivers (WinXP) from Geforce.com (Nvidia). Game still looks good and no error message.

Now my Voodoo5 on the other hand, *shudder* that looked really, really bizarre... purple floors, bombed out, see through graphics. Kind of eeery..

Me no gun

The readme says that Freelancer (at least the demo) has issues with the Voodoo cards.

I have the TI4400 and didn't have that problem but my textures didn't show up. I just had to turn on Fog Emulation Table in the DirectX options for the video card and now it looks great!

Well just make sure you have the latest drivers to be on the safe side!

Post Thu Feb 27, 2003 10:13 pm

I have a Geforce4 MX440 and have never had a single issue with it in the demo. Not a single crash, hiccup, blurp, slowdowns, etc. And I am not using the latest drivers from Nividia. Just the ones that came with the card when I bought it. The grahics look awesome!

Post Thu Feb 27, 2003 10:48 pm

Well you dont alway's need the latest driver's mainly saying if folks are haveing isseus with video they might want to get them. If you get them and it cause's problems then it obviouses their are some other issue's on the PC beisde video and now their starting to show up!

You must also remember that demos always have issues. I am quite sure that the full version won't have quite as many issues. Some game demos even have patches. Go figure eh? Anyway don't worry too much.

I came. I saw. I conquered. And sometimes get conquered.
