If you want dynamic trading simulate it;

Every 5 or 6 loads just dump your cago and leave..

Now you can feel the market fluctuation.
Enjoy.

Actually the Demo makes for interesting trading ... I'm finding myself deliberatly trading for huge losses just to keep my net worth down

Katana,

That reminds me of playing an old board game called "Mad". Named after the magazine. The object of the game was to be the first one to lose all your money.

HAHAHA. Yeah, i hope they don't put a dynamic system in. That would detract from the game a ton, IMO.

Yes, It would be horrible to read some news about war breaking out in some system and rushing to get light arms in during the conflict at very high prices (and risks) and then supplies after the war. To actually have a world that is changing.

No, It is much better to just buy Luxury food at London and ship to New York. The sky high price must mean they are having a shortage of it in New York. But no matter how much me or anyone imports the prices will never change. But it is great, now that I am replaying the game I know that Lyxury Foods London->Manhattan->(luxury consumer goods)->London is a great way to make money at low risk. Don't have to bother going to other star systems and check prizes when I have a proven winner there. And it will always be a winner no matter what.

yeah, because joe schmoe right now is buying up oil cheap from the middle east and trucking it here to the US to make a tidy profit and taking advantage of the situation we're in right now. dude, one person in a huge universe can't make such an impact as to see any sort of change in the economics of the system. maybe if you had a fleet of munitions cargo ships and controlled a whole sector or something....but not one little space exporing ship.

I have to strongly disagree with you on this. What fun is it finding the best trade route and ONLY doing that trade route for the WHOLE game..... not much fun really, the game is the same all the time. How many times can you go from one station to the other doing the same thing without getting bored?

It would be much better if it were dynamic. But Im not criticizing you, just voicing my opinon.

it occurs to me that once the best trade route in the game is discovered (possibly this) it will become extremely heavily camped on the multiplayer servers

BTW, before I start...I'm referring to the Demo version, and a trade route between Fort Bush and Pittsburgh.

When I started using a freighter, it was interesting because it changed how I went about combat. This kinda made the trading more interesting...each run was like a mission and I've been hired as a gunner to fight off the rouges. That's because I use the Goto command, so I can concentrate on weapons control. You should try it (if you haven't already), cause it's quite fun.

It's a shame I can only own 1 ship. It would've been SO cool if I could own both a fighter and a freighter...it's just that I like both of them now. Oh well, I'll just have separate games for the 2. That'll probably be fine.

You're not the only trading ship in the universe who would have impact on a dynamic economy, you know? Or have you not seen all those big transport ships flying back and forth on trade runs?

The X series of space sims have truely dynamic economies where every ship has an effect. A trade route being attacked in those games could have a very real effect; if no transports can make it to a station then it WOULD eventually run out of the needed goods and demand would become increasingly huge. Things like hired escorts to protect freighters and wars between various factions become much more important and you see the universe around you actually change - that is the meaning of a dynamic universe.

Unfortunately this is a core area of design that has to be factored in from the very beginning... The X games were designed around this from the beginning. So we will not be seeing anything this complex ever added to Freelancer.

god what would be an ownage exp pack is that a universe that is constantly changing, like a war between two factions and stuff and u need small arms and ****. ..........................oh wait did someone say that? hehe owell.
