I use em too when im swarmed, sometimes they dont hit nothing but other times i find that after ive killed my first target, the next 2 targets dont have any shields from running into my mines.

There will be moments during combat when the enemy ship flies directly toward you. Try launching your mine right before he flys past you. That usually works.

Yah, when you first come across a few rogues in the game and theyre flying directly at you, drop a couple and move out of the way and i got a question: can you be hit with your own mines? it seems like i can, but i dont know if im just being shot.

After reading this thread I wanted to see how useful mines actually are, since I hadn't use ANY before I read this.

If you really want to see how helpful mines are, just equip a Seeker MineDropper, fill up on Seeker Mines, and head out to the Debris Fields.
Get about four Rogues chasing you, hit "H" to go into Turret View, and start droppin' mines...

This is one of my favourite things to do right now.
I actually do missions just to earn cash for some mines so I can "go play"!

Yes, your own mines WILL hit you.

I was waiting in the debris fields for a rogue to catch up to my freighter. Then I dropped a mine when the enemy was about 1K away from me. My engine was off, and I was waiting. Then the mine probably thought, "Hey, why am I waiting for THAT guy when there's a warm object right HERE." And then I watched in horror (well, relative horror, as I had full shields) as the mine floated approximately 2 feet to collide with my rear end. Stupid mine...

But yeah, most of the time they work great. Now if I could just get those countermeasures to live up to their "80%" effectiveness.

LOL, I never used mines in the demo.
