Optimal ship?

Will there be an optimal ship configuration that will work in every situation? I mean, it would be kinda lame if you at some point get a supership which is like THE best. Have just tried the demo for a little while and the game looks great, but I´m a little concerned about the ship thingy. Please tell me it´s not like that.

There are 2 uber freighters imo
Dont know which one I will choose yet.

Owning a big fighter is nothing without the right equipment/weaponery.
And of course there's tactics and piloting skills.

well I would not say nothing, but yeah what a fighter with level 10 weapon slots worth if you only have level 6 weapons

still the high armor is still nice ^_^

I honestly think it all comes down to pilot skill, no matter what ship you are piloting, if the other pilot doesn't know the techniques you do, then you will be able to cut him down no matter what ship you're flying. I was playing the demo today in my Patriot, and I eliminated every other ship in the area around Fort Bush (police, etc) even though they were all flying the same ship as I was. Granted, this is the computer we're talking about, but I have a feeling that some people can't fly as well as the computer.

and I granted you that a player that is able to get a titan will be at least able to shoot sometimes straight

and he does not need much more than about 2 hits against you when you are in a starter ship

Nope he might need to shoot quite a lot of times...
A titan with lvl 1 weaponry won't do much good...
