Demo sector question

I am playing the demo version right now... and am exporing the different sectors that dont have any trade lanes. So far I have found nothing but space

Am I wasting my time? .. or are there things out there that are worth exploring?

Heres a little tip. There is a junker base in the northern sector of New York. Try and find it.

Best way i found(at least holds true in the demo dunno about full) is to look at the patrols of all(neutral, enemy, and friendly), and just pick out hot spots where they all seem to meet or avoid.
