Using Misstles

Hey all

I have a question about misstles. I have two Misttles attached to my ship, but i do not know how to fire the misttles speretly, if I press fire Misttle (Q) it lunches both of them. Basically I wanna do so if I press one button Mistle A is lunched, and if I press another button Misstle B is lunched.. help ?

Press the number that corresponds to the gun. You should see that information in the box in the bottom right corner. For instance, I have my missiles on my Cavalier in the number 4 spot. So, I hit the 4 key on my keyboard to launch them.

Two things:

- it's "missile". "Mistletoe" is something else, becoming important later this year
- I wouldn't recommend having missiles (or mistletoes) for lunch, they cause bad karma.

Missle launchers and missles should be sold for cash ASAP. Why waste profits blowing up a guy in front of you when you have $0 per shot guns available? Mines are a bit different and are really designed to make foes think twice about tailgating with a lavablade stuck up your ... ah...tailpipe.

Seriously, I think missles are a horrid waste of resources, save your cash and buy some bigger and better boom-sticks.

I agree. The damage they cause is pathetic even compared to lesser guns. I hope missiles become more effective later in the game so that they at least are worth their money.

I have some pretty decent missiles I use right now that will kill some of the ships I am fighting in one if they only have 1/4 shields left. I think that is pretty good and I only use them in certain scenarios (mostly if I am am being swamped by fighters and need to get the numbers down quickly to something more manageable).

Starslayer Torpedo Luncher: 12,000 $
Starslayer Torpedo: 356$
The look in the face of a fighter pilot that relized that even those can hit if you try to attack frontal: Priceless!

Well actually I like to have some missiles and torps for bigger ships and stations, its just sweet what a 2400 dmg torpedo can do, or some cheap 1200 hull dmg missiles

they add a nice extra punch, at real low energy costs
sure you pay for them with your hard earned money, but some runs for example are so luckrativ that wasting 30 seconds with fighting let you lose a lot more than a few tausend credits which salvo of missiles would cost.
though turrets would be another solution, why fight them, when you could instead go strait for the jumpgate/tradelane/jumphole and make sure with some turrets that they get not too easy shots.

I do keep torps on board for base bashing missions, but I don't use them that often. (they do come in hand on some fo the later story missions ).

Still missles are too damn expensive to fire at some punk when I can put six reaper shots in him with almost no dent in my profits.

I've found that after you make 109k per cargo run (In only 13 jumps) you tend not to look at the prices anymore...

Scarry thing is that I WANT to get jumped by all these criminal factions! I love turning their pretty ships into burning hulks of metal!

MUUUUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

missiles are so slow in FL.....
btw, do missiles go faster if you fire them at high speed?

it is fun to watch the enemy ship got kill in 1 attack when you fire 6 missles at them at once

just mix up those hull dmg and shield dmg missle... (and fire the shield dmg first)

I like a couple shield damaging missles first and then rip theyre hull apart with the guns.. It helps when the odds are 8:1 or more...

and no.. I am no astrophysicist... but I think missles do not go faster if you go faster.. law of physics or something..

"btw, do missiles go faster if you fire them at high speed?"

Well, they do in the real world, but not in the game as far as I can tell. They don't seem to track very well either. I've only managed a couple of missile hits at what I thought was point blank range. I still need to get used to speed and distance in Freelancer.
