Freelancer with Microsoft Strategic Commander

Well I downloaded and tried the demo of Freelancer last night. simply amazing, of course, I wish I could go further... but the demo will be fine until I get my hands on the full game.

Anyway, I own a Microsoft Strategic Commander and it works really well in freelancer. One hand on the mouse, the other on the strat commander. So I wonder if others were using it to play freelancer and how were you mapping the ship functions to the strat commander. I am trying to come up with a good setup and was wandering what others were doing. I am still at decide which keys are more often used to map them to the easiest reach.

More peripheral freedom! good. This should ease some pain on you joystick hardcores.

I bought a Nostromo N50 controller and it works great for Freelancer. plenty of buttons to program and it has a directional pad for your thumb that I have programmed to thruster, straff right/left and reverse engines. I recomend it to anyone that want's to quit hunting for buttons on the keyboard. At $30, it's not tough on the wallet either (solid construciton and comforatble as well).

Starshock: Yes you can, the strategic commander is very programmable. I can't say about the N50, I only own a strat. commander.

you can program 18 buttons with keyboard function and that's whithout considering the programmable axis and the + and - buttons that I use for trusters.
