Why is it when I buy a newer level of shield, it shows up in a slot but is not mounted? Do I have to sell the old one first and then buy? I dont get this. Also, when I had a star flier with a level 2 shield and traded it in for a Patriot, the shields that were mounted were the level 1 type and the level two just showed as extra?

PLease help or explain

Because the ship comes to you with preinstalled equipment. So during the purchase of your new ship, just sell the crappy one it comes with and equip the better one you have.

Its the gray square in the top left of the picture that you use to mount and unmount.
