how do you switch weapons?

This may be a dumb question but I cant figure it out for the life of me... when i salvage weapons i.e. guns, i cant seem to switch the salvaged ones for the already equiped ones. any ideas?

Land somewhere, go to your inventory screen, select weapons inventory. When you have a close look at your weapons you will see a little hatch icon in the upper left of each weapon picture. click on it to dismount or mount the weapon.
