How do you target subsystems?

I have read that it is possible to target subsystems on an enemy ship. Could someone tell me how to do this? Thanks.

You double click on the contact in the list, which will bring up a little schematic of the ship. Then you just click on the part of the ship you wish to target. To get back out of this mode, you click on the little button in the upper right corner of the contact list that looks like it is an icon representing a list.
