What genius ordered the Liberty fighters?

Question for you all. Just how big were the bribes that were involved with the Liberty armed forces getting their crop of ships? Their 'heavy' fighter is barely comparable to bounty hunter and civilian light fighters. Doesn't it make sense that a nation's top of the line craft would, well, be top of the line?

I don't agree with that. The bounty hunters that i blew out of the sky had much weaker shields and hulls than the Navy fighters. Police fighters can fly sharper turns than the bounty hunter's ships while still having a pretty strong hull. The civilian fighters may be agile, but they need the least amount hits to be destroyed.

It also has to do with the region of space that you are in. Liberty is where you start out so the ships are weaker, while other houses which you visit later in the plot will have stronger ships (for all factions in that area, not just the houses)... and then when you plunge into the border worlds they get stronger still

And how much does that honestly make sense? Why not have the Liberty fighters be expensive, even though they're available in the opening area? Military stuff should be among the best equipment out there, period, no matter how close it is to your starting location. Or only make them available after you've done a certain number of story missions/have progressed far enough. Just like the other high end craft.

Actually, for the devs to make up for it, I read a rumer from a Liberty military bar patron that was pretty related to this. He said something like "I was recently off duty and I noticed from the other houses that our military is a joke! Compared to the Bretonians, Rhineland, and Kusari we don't have a chance!"

It was yesterday, so please pardon if I got it wrong.

They do have the Missouri though, which apparently (if you read the info) is top of line.

Hmmmm.

The game is meant to progress through regions of space. This is a mistake, in my opinion, as it makes the replayability of the game far less... but it does wonders for the storyline. It's a trade off. They managed it pretty well still, I think. But you WILL end up either in Rheinland or Borderworlds when you've completed the game. Anything else is just TOO easy.

One more thing

1 on 1 however, Liberty doesnt have a prayer, as Rheinland heavy fighters have 10 times the ammount of armor the Navy Defender Heavy Fighter has...

but what we're led to believe is that what liberty lacks in might, they make up for in sheer numbers.
one rienland HF vs 10 liberty navy HF...
you'd have to be one hell of a pilot to get out of that one alive

...Just a random thought from a random mind

Not really. One guy in a freighter, and myself in a Dragon took on the entire fighter wing stationed at Fort Bush (and destroyed everything that could be destroyed, heh, lots of scrap metal from the supply depot)
They couldn't even put a dent in me as long as I didn't stay still, it was like a duck shoot.

I dunno we have plenty of folks here who have completed the game in a liberty fighter. From tyhe Star flyer right to the heavy.

Try it, you'll like it
