Something about the PR (and maybe final) version that is rea

OK, I was lucky enough to know someone at a Gamestop who has let me play the PR version and I ran into a bug that seems so obvious to me that it makes me wonder how they missed it and what other bugs might be present if they missed this one.

So, here is the deal. When you start the game you have access to your ship's scanners and tractor beam. So, you can use these from the beginning. However, in the beginning of the second main mission, the character you are taking orders from tells you that they are going to upgrade your ships with scanners and a tractor beam. Doesn't she realize I have had them from the beginning? I am trying to figure out how they let this one get past them.

Now, I know that the PR versions are not final, but I had a friend play the demo and he says you start the game with scanner and tractor beam. I have also talked to some people who have the released "not-so-legal" version of the game (which is supposed to be final) and it occurs there too.

Anyone else who has played this run into this and think it was odd?

A minor flaw. This kind of stuff would not bother me at all unless it kept me from fullfilling a misson or affected what I allready had earned. I am sure the game will not be perfect and patches will be forth coming. But it is good to note such things at the support section of the Official web site.

Cool your jets. PR copies and betas are just unfinished copies. The final should squash alot if not all known bugs.

Disco, I already noticed this a while ago. No big deal. Its just there because the game is assuming you're a first time user and you dont know the controls.

Its really nothing to make a big deal about.

I hope I didn't come across like I was angry about it or anythihg, but it just made me wonder. Actually, the big reason I noticed it was because in the first mission a little tutorial box comes up telling you how to use the tractor beams to loot stuff after you blow up a ship. Had they not done that, I probably never would have tried tractor beam and never would have known. Seeing the tractor beam made me try the scanner and soon I had noticed both.

So, not a huge deal or anything, and like I said, it just made me wonder if there were any more bugs out there (I know all games have them) that might be more urgent.

Anyway, the rest of it is nice, though I am starting to wonder if there are more to random missions than blowing stuff (humans, ships, cargo) up. I had read there are, but I just hadn't gotten them yet. All around nicely polished game so far.

Initital design of FL had a great varity of equipment, like upgradeable power sources, tractor and scanners as extra equipment etc. They had to cut a few features to get done with the game, and get it out of the door. Such is life...

I was digging around in the files last night, it seems like they left a lot of it in the game, just disabled perhaps. I think it's time we get some coders to work!
