One thing I keep hearing from just about everyone that has played the demo is that you get attacked every 5 sec....

I really hope this is not true... I get a little suspicious when a game like this sends wave after wave of attackes... It makes me wonder what are they trying to hide by making you do nothing but fight 90% of the time... I hope the full game is not like this our it will go back to EB after 1 day...

It's not entirely true that you are being attacked all the time. When you use the tradelanes you are pretty much save. Sure, once in a while they disable a tradelane ring but you can escape them. You will have the most enemy encounters in debris fields or in sectors that are controlled entirely by a faction that doesn't like you. The main problem is: at the beginning of the game your reputation with the rogues is so bad, it couldn't be much worse (due to the first mission which is mandatory). The result: they attack you whenever possible. In the final game you will have the option to earn enough money to bribe some barekeeper who will improve your reputation with the rogues. This will hopefully result in less attacks.

It's really only in certain sectors that you get hounded by rouges, mostly around Pittsburg and the scrapyards, oh and you'll always find a heap around the abandond base(it's name escapes me now, y'know the one in the really dark nebula).

And it's probably only once every 2-5 minutes around those areas.

Random encounters don't see to happen that often. If you go into pirate infested areas (nebulas/fields with jump holes or bases) then you're asking to get attacked. Stay in trade lanes in safer areas and you'll get attacked a lot less.

And the pirates dont just come after you. They go on patrols just like the police do and they jsut happened to have spot you. Its easy to get away anyways, just cruise on out.

Yeah, check the patrol routes mode on the system map. you can see that rogues patrol all the debris fields in a very dense pattern. And some of those routes come very close to tradelanes. You can use the map to plot a secure course. They may take longer to fly because you most likely need to take a detour, but that's the best way to evade fights when you are not using the tradelanes.

A little hint for exploring nebulae or large areas of space in general: create yourself a search pattern with custom waypoints. This way you can make sure that you check every single part of the explored area without checking some parts multiple times.
