The Fatal Flaw of all Space Sim/games

Your given a squadron to lead and your the only one in it thats capable of killing anything :\

when are game companies going to realize that when you give us team mates we expect those teammates to at least hold thier own.

so far ive gotten into battles where theres 6 - 7 enemy ships and only myself and one or maybe two others .. NOT ONCE has the enemy been able to take out more than 1 ship durring the whole battle.

battle example from freelancer:
banking back and forth vs an enemy ship eating away its shields and armor.. if theres another enemy ship you can BET that he's gonna be on your ass where you cant see him and he will be hitting you 90% of the time. your teammate WILL NOT help you he will fly in circles missing most of the time. compound this problem with even more enemy's and you can see the beginnings of frustration setting in

over all a great game. just horrible teammate ai. (wheres the attack my target!)

Mates are pretty good in the Freespace games as well. Sometimes it happened that i was frustrated because my mates wouldn't leave an enemy for me.

true that, the ai in starlancer ain't that good and it matter to me since this game feel more arcadish than simulation. By the way will MS make FL for console, since it feels more like a console game than a pc game

Odd, I though the friendly AI was a lot better than other games. SPOILER: During mission 4 when you're fighting off the bounty hunters, there are quite a lot of them, yet I only killed a couple. The friendlies killed off the rest. Oh, and you can't order wingmen around because they don't work for you, nor are they under your command.

Wtf?

Speaking of friendly AI, this reminds me of that annoying thing that happened in Colony Wars for the PS one. I was blasting away at an enemy ship but a friendly ship flew into my line of fire. Before I could stop firing, it was already too late. I hit the ship just enough to be considered an enemy...in other words, it means Game Over. All because of that stupid pilot!
