Anyone else had pirates try to rob you in the demo?

Im not sure but I THINK they only try if you are neutral to them.......whenever I am "angry" relation wise they just attack.

They aproached me and from my vast cargo demanded a whopping.....ONE WATER!

I agreed to send it......as it was sent I shot the water and kept firing, destroying the pirate ship right infront of me in an instant-suddenly on my radio com comes a voice screaming "YOUR DEAD MAN, YOU"LL REGRET THIS!!!"

Very movie'ish moment(If your curious it was 8 pirates VS my yet to be upgraded ship, and after using ALL of my repair bots and shield recharges I did take em out heh.

Yeah, if they don't like you they just try to take it from you without asking. Even if they're friendly they will sometimes ask you to drop it, which kind of sucks but is kind of cool since they're pirates

I tend to open fire on pirates in some form before they are even in my optimal weapons range.

My turrets make quick work of them. I refuse to negoitiate with terrorists/pirates

I still think a cargo bomb is in order, drop it and let them have it, 10-9-8-7ect.
BOOOOM! Hehe..

A class 50 bomb, take out all ships with in a mile or so, drop and run.

They took my 1 unit of scrapmetal

I don't give them anything out of principle, even if it is just 1 toxic waste.

I used it as an excuse to test my new guns

they ask you to dump your cargo? by the time i heard them says something one of em was already half dead (starlancer instincts - anything cloest enemy targets, gets dead) heard them yelling i've got a target, taking it out a few times, i'm under fire, etc quite cool
i also like the radio trafic around bases etc

and how do you distrupt trade lanes? i want to rob ships but don't really want to do it near one of the large bases

Cruise (outside the tradelane of course) to a ring that is far away from a base (15k should be sufficient). FIre a couple of shots at the desired tradelane ring. They have a blue shield indicator, if it's down to zero the ring will flash for second which means that it is disabled. Now you have to wait a couple of seconds until someone drops out of the lane. If you are lucky it will be a transporter or freighter with a weak escort. If you are unlucky however, it may be a very pissed patrol of Libery Police or Navy fighters. One more thing: when you get to attack a freighter/transport destroy it as fast as possible, grab the cargo and get the hell outta there! It doesn't take long until the police or at least some more tradelane users will arrive... and after a tradelane attack they ALL will hate you and try to kill you. So keep your cruise drive ready.

I have one thing to add:

I believe that if you disable the tradelanes, but dont attack the ships that pop out, you wont get in any trouble. I was just screwing around betweemn Ft. Bush and Manhattan once and did that a couple times.

ahh sounds cool, i think the best thing to do here would be to lurk by a tradelane, when you see a ripe target heading towards it jump, drop out and disable it, and your target ought to be the next thing to appear, giving you the perfect oportunity to gank it

Back on the topic subject:

Just today I had a junker threaten and demand my water. Luckily he did this just as I entered a trade lane and I was some 100k away from him in about 10 seconds.

Can you avoid all others and just trade, out run them?
Until you get strong..
