Where do they store all that stuff?

Where do they store all that stuff?

I was looking at the "pilotable ships" part of this page and was wondering: considering the relatively small size of all those ships (even the freighters are pretty small) and remembering that all these small ships must host an effective power source, as well as engines and different other systems... were the heck is the cargo stored?

The "cargo" is stored on top of your lap, that's why in all the screenshots you never see anyone gripping controls in the ship, they are just sitting with their hands by their sides.

LOL @ on your lap.. It does look like the pilot is carfully balancing a cake or something.

In their cargo hold. Sheez. Maybe they have some sort of cool miniaturizer that makes things smaller.

They have soome type of displacment systems increasing the amount you can cary, but it only works well for the smaller ships, and as larger the ship gets, the harder it is to displace it...

Uhm... ok... c'mon guys! It's a design flaw! Confess it!

Wow, I was pretty close, and I was just pulling things out of my ass

I don't think it was a design flaw at all. I'm pretty sure the pictures on this site are not to scale. Besides, if you look at the ship specs, the smallest light fighter can hold 150 units (?), and the biggest freighter can only hold 1000 units, which means that it would only need to have 6.5 times more volume in the cargo bay than smallest ship. I think that once you play the game, you'll notice that the ships are scaled correctly.

I'm trying not to notice these little inconsistencies. It's kind of cool to go out, blow a bunch of guys away and then come back and see what kind of goodies you picked up. Every time the cops scan me for contraband I brace myself because I don't keep track of what's in my hold.

Dont trust the Ship Guide for now. Its behind. The cargo sizes have been redone for balance.

Ohhhh, inside information?
Did freighters get more cargo space and/or (very heavy) fighters less ?
Because I thought the difference wasn't big enough.

Here's a question. When you pick up guns, thrusters, or ammo does it reduce your cargo capacity? I don't think it does, but I haven't been paying enough attention to be sure. It's kind of funny that you can fill up your cargo hold with commodities but you still have room for shield batteries or guns. I'm going to have to do some more experimenting to see for myself.

I love the tractor beam. Sometimes I can make more money from the selling the stuff I reel in than I do from a mission.

lol, cargo size.. lol. Try this... some moons, like Abilene in texas are just 10k away from planet houston. And, planets are too small and distances are too close.

Only commodities take up cargo space. Weapons, shields, etc do not.
