It is linked up by the unique number you get when you first start a multiplayer game. It is possable to get the number from the start menu, just run the "examine my account ID" file and you will get it.

From what I have seen you can only enter that number the first time you start a MP game. Otherwise you will have to reinstall the game to change it. Now, I might be wrong and hope I am.
But having more than 1 computer using the same number would cause problems if they were both running at the same time. So I'm doubtfull if it is changable.

Though I'm disappointed, I can understand and agree with how it's done.

The less opportunity for hacks the better.

I guess I'll just start a new character on my other machine.

There hasnt been a ton of experimentation with this. Perhaps it is possible to simply move your multiplayer profiles to another computer and input the key and then it might work. We'll see soon enuff.

You won't be able to move characters from one computer to the next because of the way the software marry's up the server ID and the computer ID running the client into one unique MP number. Characters can be move from one server to another but only as a group. You can not pick and choose one MP character to be moved from one server to the next. It's all or nothing. Sorry.

But moving charcters is beeing investigated, we just don't want a system where one can hijack a players characters on a server...

It would be nice, but being able to copy your character off a server would perhaps make it possible to hack your character and make him/her super powerful.
