Base Destruction

First, a general greeting to all in the forums - I'm relatively familiar with the site, but have a general dislike of large forums. You seem like a civil bunch, so what the heck.

Second, I seem to recall reading something about being able to (for example) pursue a group of pirates back to their base, and destroy said base, ending the pirate threat. I was wondering what then happens to the pirates from the base... I understand they aren't all individual characters, but if you don't actually wage a war against the pirate presence in a system, but manage to destroy a key base, would they all just disappear? Or would activity just eventually drop off.

Also, can you destroy the bases of the 'good guys'? Say, Sugarland, and mess with the balance of power? I understand destroying any base would be very difficult, but it's a hypothetical question.

You can only destroy bases when it's part of a (storyline) mission. Other than that they are invincible. The same goes for the batteships.

One more thing: welcome!

You can take generated missions in the bars to destroy bases, but those bases don't have names and are only made for that mission. I'd guess there are pirate missions to destroy police bases and stuff, but I've never been aligned with pirates and checked I do police missions to destroy pirate bases sometimes

Wow... that point was made by one of the Devs... Jorg I believe... saying that's exactly what you could do and that's exactly what would happen... I guess that's another fact that wasn't quite how it sounded :\ bugger, I was looking forward to that.

Nice Flyin with you Kahar Anyway, you should try allying with the outcasts or something. If you play your cards right you can be fully allied with them without making anyone else hostile...A bunch of corporations will become neutral though. Or simply kill enough bretonian cops to make them and the outcasts neutral. Then the corporations won't be affected too much...the non-bretonian ones I mean. The outcasts and corsairs have the two best ships...They also happen to hate eachother...oh well. Hope to see you on the TLR server
