Fl multi ship or just one.

Hi guys, I keep popping in from time to time to see the news, don't get much time to look in on you lot for long though.

As an Elite fan, I love the freedom of deciding your own destiny and not having to worry if this is the last misson in the game. Then I found Terminus and... What a surprise, I can have several ships going at once, selecting the one that suits the current mission without selling up and starting over. No more struggling with cargo in a small fighter or getting into strike missions with a big and heavy cargo ship. It would have topped it nicely by allowing you to employ pilots to fly one ship while you flew the other. You could then have your own ship escorting you on trading missions or pilot the fighter yourself to escort your own cargo. Since I never found an upper limit to the number of ships I could have, a rich person could create their own fleet and take over the area.

I just read Mad Dogs review and FL sounds good. However, there's just one question I'd like to ask.

Are we stuck with just one ship or can we berth others so we can have a fighter and a trading ship going at the same time? Or is it back to the days of Elite where you have to decide if your ship can handle any given mission?

Cheers guys.

Stuck with one ship.

That's correct, 1 ship at a time. No 'garage' or anything like that. If you buy a new ship, your 'old' one gets replaced.

Is there a "trade in" fee for swapping ships?

Post Wed Feb 19, 2003 1:44 pm

Yeah, I guess it has some sort of trade-in-prices, although they will probably screw you on the trade in ! As in real life

Everything depreciates when you buy it, so you always lose some money when you trade in your ship or sell weapons. No problem, just go kill some more pirates.

Let's get those missiles ready to destroy the universe!!

Having one ship is pretty realistic, I guess, I mean how could explain switching between the ships you own as you move to different planets unless you're like trailing a big line of ships behind you!

Though it would be nice if you could hire wingman to fly freighters you buy. It'd be nice if I didn't have to trade in my fighter everytime I wanna haul some cargo for a nice score.

I would have liked to see some kind of option to be able to have more than one ship and keep them in some kind of personal base. That way you can't just switch on a whim but you would have the option. I guess that would make it hard to buy a new ship though if you wanted to keep you current one. A space taxi would be cool.

Or maybe pay a fee and have someone fly you rship back. Is there even a remote chance there will be a supprise and you find some kind of base to do this or something?

Awwwwww Shucks! That's torn it.

Terminus allowed you to dock your unused ship at any spaceport. If you wanted to change ships, you would have to go to that spaceport to pick it up.
