To all you PR people

What is your favorite aspect of the game so far?

Post Sun Feb 16, 2003 5:50 am

Well, I've been playing it pretty much constantly since yesterday. All the little things constantly amaze me. Its pretty rewarding when you go exploring and find jump holes and hidden bases. I've managed to find around ten jumpholes and I have yet to leave liberty space. The radio chatter is cool too. When I was getting ready to dock at a planet a liberty patrol officer scanned my cargo and then flew by me and requested for clearance to dock with the planet. So, the game has lots of cool little things going for it. Haven't touch single player yet, won't touch it until I get the retail version. Combat is very fun, lots of neat little tactics you can use when fighting the bad guys. Oh yeah, this game alt-tabs like a champ too, it's running in the background right now as I'm taking a short break.

Its definitely the exploration and feeling of discovering things in FL. And the urge to keep going and uncover newer, better and more advanced equipment.

I know! I should have never accepted the marketing beta when I reserved it. None of my homework has gotten done this weekend. As I look ahead to the beginning of next week, I have even more homework due wednesday. That means I'll have to pull myself away from this wonderful game. If MP is this good I can't even imagine how SP might be with the storyline and all. I can't imagine how tough it was not saying anything when you guys were beta testing the game.

I teamed up with Stinger on the server yesterday, and he showed me some beautiful spacescapes...really nice...too bad there were so many corsairs that didn't like me there

The explorations is definately a factor...finding new areas and hidden items/jumpgates/jumpholes...etc...

The feel of a NEW ship. Ahhhhhhhhhh. And the control scheme works so well. Trust me, no one will miss a joystick. Combat is a delight.

what i like best so far is seems to be no end to finding new stuff (not literal) and that even if you got the best stuff can still oplay for long as you want as can keep random missions

Thanks for taking the time to respond..

The game sounds great!

From the fact that it is hard to detach yourself from playing the game speaks loads of praise.

I am only going to play the first story ine mission and then just run around the NY sector.

I know one thing, so far the game is living up to and surpassing how good I thought it would be. It's amazing how much there must be in the game. I can see why it took so long to develop.

I absolutly love the controll scheme too. The only thing I hate aout the controlls is now I don't want to play any other space sim games unless they pick up the controll scheme of FL (that is a good thing by the way) I can't beleive no one ever though of controlls like that before, oh-well GOOD JOD Digital Anvil.

I really liked the intro movie too.

The dog fights are awesome, the radio chatter is great, also make sure you pay attention to what people say and you can pick up some good trade info among other things.

At first I thought you could walk around the bases like a 3d game but after playing it I am much happier with the point and click method in bases, they still have good 3d graphics and neat scenes when you talk to someone, I just wish I could bitch slap someone when they ask to see my card and then tell me I better leave before something bad happens (bad reputation)

I do hope that the average dialogue is a little better for Trent in retail though. In the scripted cut scenes it seems fine just your average talk in the bar is what I mean.

CP: When you get to annoyed, do like most of us testers did... disable transistions in the options, and use the ESC button...

Look what you've done to me! I just finished Tachyon: The Fringe and now i have installed Freespace 2. Every single time when someone's posting how great the game is and that it's even better than expected my craving of Freelancer gets stronger. But i wouldn't wanna have it any other way.

Bargib,

Do you mean for the dialogue? What does disabling the transistions do?

BTW: I still think the dialogue was very well done. It seems like each person you talk to says something different and sounds different too. Trent may need a dictionary though but no biggie.

LOL@Stinger

Heh he, I never guessed you would 'skip' things in FL (certainly not disabling transistions and use the ESC button) Bargib !! My guess was that you don't want to miss out on anything when it comes to Freelancer, or are you just waiting to see it all in the final release ?
