Questions on top end ships

For players engrossed in the PR Beta:

How long did it take you to purchase one of the higher end ships (I'm moslty talking about the very heavy fighter class ships - I get the impression that these are the best ships), if you did, and how many other ships did you go through on the way?

Is there a (perceived) best ships that everyone will graviate towards or are the top end ships comparable? Do they have pro's and con's to make up for numerical differences like in armor?

I really like that there are so many different ships you can buy in Freelancer. I just hope that not everyone (non-traders) will eventually end up in, say the Titan or whatever. I think it would be brilliant if all the different classes of ships were an option later on - I haven't played the game, so they might be, I'm just waiting for the glorious day when Freelancer hits the shelves here in Denmark.

Regards.

Oh, and why don't danes ever get a sleeper ship - just a little one - in one of these futures

A Thread very simmilar to this was started last week, you might want to run a search on it on the forum, since i initated the thread, you could run it on my username to find all the postings 8)

But i'll answer as best i could. To get a Liberty heavy fighter it would take about and hour or 2 of playing. To get the Titan (The ultimate ubber ship in the game) it can take 10hr's to an experianced player (meaning a player that knows what missions to take, where and when) So i'm guessing a new player to the game will take double the time?

There are 31 pilotable ships, in 4 categories
Light fighters, heavy fighters, very heavy fighters and freighters.
There are only 4 or 5 very heavy fighters in the game: Titan, Sabre, Hammerhead, Eagle and Anubis. Check out the ship database on this site, it has stats and pics for most of the ships in the game. To follow the stats (and the comments made by the beta team) best ship is the Titan. The most armor, shield/nano capacity. Closely followed by the Sabre.

Your concern about everyone getting the ubber ships is shared by me 8)
From what i gather those ships are a MUST once you get into the more lawless system of the borderworlds, where lesser ships wont cut it. As for MP? since it looks like it will be based on co-op missions rather the individual H2H, or co-op H2H if you will, i think that balancing teams will be crucial. Sort of like in Mw where there's a maximum tonnage limit you can wield. So i think a mix of fighters of all classes will be very likely.

Since the game isn't out yet, and we are only begining to form the basis for this community it's all open to debate, and the good will of people putting up dedicated or home servers.

Time will tell.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tan Hauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die.

Thanks for the answers, Thunder.

I couldn't find the other thread though even just searching on your user name... weirdly

I haven't advanced very far into the game since I'm only on the startracker but it 's still better than the star flier though, anyway I believe that there will be fighters even more extreme than the very heavy fighters since I believe that in the final version DA might have been witholding something special.

Damn, just when i thought that my drooling was under control and my shaking hands had started to subside....

You know i'll have to kill you now, you do realize that? 8)

Seriously, can anyone confirm?

Mr. Void,

My memory is going 8) The thread exists, as for who started it? I might have confused it with another thread. I didn't find the thread either under my postings. But there was such a thread and i had asked a simmilar question 8)

Maybe one of the Mod's can step in and help out?

No one would be able to confirm since no one has played the final version of the game.My comments were based on what Stinger said a while earlier about everything happening on the outer regions of the freelancer universe plus if you haven't notice under the spoiler forum there's a mention of an Ohtori ship which I haven't heard about or even seen in the game so far.

The spoiler forum is a no-man's land for me 8) Not untill i at least finished the single player game. i Don't think i could go through the topics without reading. I have a severe case of curiosity killed the cat 8)

So i haven't been looking into that forum at all.

As for the ship you mentioned, i guess i'll have to find out for my self.

Bout no one playing the final version...Dont the closed beta people have the last beta or release candidate that went gold? Usually the last version is as close as you can get to the retail.

For those that have the game available to play I would only use the MP feature for now...Save the story for the full version...it should be worth the wait...and in the multiplayer feature you don't have to go on storyline missions before you can advance up to new levels (and get access to more items) ....plus you can get used to the interface before beginning the story...
