Briton Ships

Is it just me or do you guys think the Briton ships are really ugly? . The coolest ships so far that i've seen is Liberty Heavy Fighter, Corsair Fighter and the Valkeri.

They all look pretty ugly IMO, but that is why I like them. I don't need no stinkin' sleek ships.

They're wicked..

but im not biased being from the UK at all, no.. really..

It's not ugly. Looks like a solidly built ship.

You know that thing in StarWars:A New Hope that lived in the garbage compactor and stuck its eye out of the water to take a look about? The Britonia Heavy Fighter looks like that eye thing (IMOA). But ill still try and get one simply cos its British

Sorry guys but I agree with Exodus, they're pig ugly. The Cavalier is kinda interesting but the Clydesdale looks like that bug I stepped on last week.

Ok, so thay are ugly...but are they any good compaired with other factions ships of similar size? Whats the Britiona's strong points and weakness?

I think all ships do have a very special design. Of course, not everybody will like it,
but its better as if they all look like a F16, or any other of todays airplanes.
I like the desings, they give the whole setting the right atmosphere.
I guess its hard to create a new Spaceship design if you dont want have one that looks like a Enterprise, Voyager, X-Wing or any other already known Spaceship.
Therefore I think, they did a good work.

I really like the Bret ships. IMO, the liberty heavy was pretty crappy looking. It was all blocky and the back looked just wierd. No style at all. The Patriot tho, that ship looks sweet

The Bret ships all have this fish/insect theme. The battleships and the gunboats are really cool looking too.

I think all the ships look great if only for the reason that they don't just, as Teabold said, resemble modern airplanes put in space. Too many space-games have displayed too little imagination where ship design is concerned IMO. It's not like sci-fi spaceships really need to be designed with air resistance in mind though sometimes it looks that way.

britian ships look really ugly, but when u think of it, so did the first missiles during WWII and we all know what those V1's did to London, what counts is the firepower.
so if your ships barely makes it out, it's because of your weapons obviously, but if your ships is really blown to peices during battle, heck not like it looks anyworse right?

PS: see where im going with this???

Agree with the others, in space aesthetics mean nothing its the hardware that counts. ie the ultimate ship design is the Borg cude.

Never argue with an idiot, they might be doing the same thing.

Diffrent strokes for diffrent folks, ever hear that? 8)

IMHO

Liberty-Elegent
Rhineland, down right functional and ugly in a bahuss kind of way.
Britonia-don't like the light fighter, the heavy fighter looks very unique
Kusari-Artfull, love the dragon.

The truth is the rest of the ships are just wings...although the Kusari and Libery and Rhineland also use wings (specially the defender and the rhineland heavy) they "look" more like spaceships. All the other factions use aircrafts 8( or something resembling a/c. They look nice, but not spaceships.

No fault of FL here since virtually all space shooters /sims other then iwar used models that resemble aircraft. They should really start thinking outside the box.

Heck a Borg Cube 8) thats thinking outside the box, literally 8)
Bayblon 5 really shined in ship models, although not all. Even the white star, as lovely as it is, is basiclly a fish with wings 8), probably needed those for atmosphere handling. While the rest of the Minbari ships are awesome. Earth Force ships are kick ass...And not to mention the old ones, Shadow and Vorlon.

Give me a battlecrab anyday 8)

You can allways argue that once space travel becomes an accepted and "easy" mode of transportation, it no longer needs to look functional.

Come think of it, since all the crafts have to lift off the face of planets, wings are an advantage...So forget my ramblings. Still, i would like to see some more inovations 8)

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tan Hauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die.

The question is though in any ships with shields, it wouldn't matter what sort of aerodynamics it had for atospheric handling, with the shields up it would be a sphere. So once again, make the ships look however you want them too.

However, since FL is a derivative of Earth culture, of course the people there would always associate bada$$ fighters with the sleek lines of our atmospheric fighters. Even in nature, the streamlined shape has always indicated speed and lethality (is that a word?). Look at the shark, the eagle, the viper. All names of ships in past space sim games too. Fancy that?
