Stand-off weapons?

Are there any weapons like the AIM-54's, lock and fire at extream ranges?
So you can kill without getting smoaked?

Thanks

Not really. If you want to kill someone, more than likely you will have to get up close and personal to put your butt on the line

heh the way it should be, none of that long range crap, i like it up close and personal

Always find it funny how while in 2003 we have BVR weapons in the future we won't

Then again wouldn't be as much fun if you were engaging blips on your radar screen and never got to see those lovely explosion graphics wouldn't it

@Idioteque: it's plausible, really. Improvements in ECMs and semi-stealth design technology can bring long-range dogfights back into knife-fight in telephone booth.

Missiles, even the ones that call themselves tracking really don't track very well. Usually i just shoot down an enemies shield's then fire a few missiles at close range. Most ships can avoid missiles if they aren't very close to you.

It would be nice to have something that would make a bad guy think twice before he would attack a slow weak ship. When a newbe starts out he should have some kick @ss weapon to protect himself/ herself. May be until you reach a 200,000 credits or something like that?

I know, screw the newbe.. hehe

LOL Really.

It'd be like learning how to drive on a Ferrari but having to drive a Geo once you got a good job

Why not, long ragne, but very expensive would be a very good balance
