Amen to the ***stick issue.

I've just lost my job. I would be bored senseless if it wasn't for this site and watching the impending war on Iraq on TV. It's probably a good job FL isn't released in the UK for another few weeks or I'd be playing it every day and not looking for a job like I'm supposed to be.

Anyway, Can anyone advise me about playing online with a mate of mine who's just moved to Australia? I live in the UK, he will be getting broadband in Australia, but I'm just on 56k. I'm obviously concerned about playing quality. Thanks.

Welcome The major limiting factor will be your 56k, I think, not distance. I've played with people from halfway around the world pretty well. Of course, it does depend which server you are playing on as well. According to the figures MD gave on how much bandwidth FL takes up (3 KB down and 5 KB up or something, which seems kind of weird) you just may be able to play lag free. It remains to be seen whether this will work for everybody though.

Ha, I lost my job recently also... the great American economy downfall... I have been doing the same thing.. looking at this site and watching CNN... (Along with sending a few resumes here and there)!

I wish this game would be out by now so I could use this "between jobs" time to play the game!

Oh yeah, I've been sending the odd CV out as well. I have to show a little bit of willing. To Godlike Entity, haha, I've just upgraded my RAM and graphics card anyway. I might lose my flat, my possessions (apart from the PC of course), my dignity and have nothing to eat apart from what I find in peoples bins, but I'll be playing Freelancer in all its glory. You have to get your priorities right!

Amen to that! Damn, you can't imagine how i want this game... hm... maybe you can.

I'm playing Tachyon: The Fringe again, just to ease my pain (nice nebula things in there). And tomorrow i'm gonna watch Star Wars Episode II again. It has some nice freelanceresque scenes in it (asteroid fight, coruscant and kamino landings). And after that i'm gonna watch Wing Commander - The Movie again(yeah, i know, but i really do like this film). And after that i'm gonna play Tachyon again...
