Each area is very distinct, and yeah - you get a high-tech qubic feel from Rheinland, a industrial feel from Bretonia, a distinct asian feel from Kusari... and an "american" feel from Liberty.

People in the international english version have a slight but no annoying accent. I actually think I found Jörg Neumans voice in the game (he is the lead designer, and acutally German!)

It is destinctvly better done than Starlancer, and with people like John Rhyes-Davis (sp?) doing some of the acting, it is very cool!

And Gib I taught SL was done ok cause english did kinda become the lanauge in the SL universres so the transgesion would have been a bit unrelistic. You get my drift right?

Please tell me the accents are not as silly as those in StarLancer...
With the Coalition having 'evil' voices, I just gave up that game after a couple of days... childish...

The only really silly accent I ever heard was ME-thane, but it was silly in a good way

I doubt anything can beat the American accents in the German version of Starlancer for their sheer silliness. Basically, the Americans sounded like they were chewing on chewing gum when they were talking.

On a sidenote, I think the voice acting is actually supposed to be a bit campy, and the cultural differences between the houses a bit overexaggerated.

Well, Klaus Steiner and "ze" other fellow Germans didnt sound very convincing in the US Version of Starlancer either. Nor did the Russians. All the accents have been way over the top and thick as peanut butter.

I noticed that some people don't think very highly of Privateer 2 which sort of surprised me. I think it's a very good game.

Well, I have Privateer2. I could wait to buy and play it. But somehow it didnt had the atmosphere of Part I.
Part one was fantastic. And so was the graphics, if you compared it to games of this time.
I no hope for freelancer to get this feeling back. Although the graphics isnt "that" excellent, its still amazing and I love the concept of the game.

What the language of the game concerns : too all german speaking fellow captains of the future : DONT BUY THE GERMAN VERSION. Although I didnt play of course now, I already know that it cant be as good as the original. Therefore buy the english version.

I am German and I will buy the original version. So i'm with you on that.
