Equipment when changing ships?

Equipment when changing ships?

I'm just curious: When changing ships, does all the equipment you've bought for the old ship transfer over? Or do you lose all the old equipment?

And if all your equipment does transfer over, what about certain weapons and that aren't compatible? Do they automatically get sold, or what?

Why make your own mistakes when someone else has already made them for you?

I bet uncompatible weapons will just end up in your cargo hold.

when you purchase a new ship, you select which equipment you want to transfer to the new ship and which, if any, equipment you want to sell with the old ship. if you decide not to sell a particular piece of equipment but your new ship is incapable of mounting it...

it is placed in the cargo hold of your new ship! good guess =)

Ahhh... Okay. Just as I suspected. Thanks, now I won't be so scared to pick new ships.

Finally... a system with some practicality... excellent

Q. Can you purchase excess stock of one item... eg. 3 Torpedo Launchers, even though you can only mount, say, 2?

Q. How much is the sale price discounted from the purchase price, 50%, 70%, higher/lower?

yes you can buy excess of any given weapon, although i dont know of any ships that are capable of fitting more than 1 torpedo launcher. you could buy 3 - it would just mean that the other 2 would be stored in your hold

by my estimate, if you buy a piece of equipment and later return to sell it, you will be looking at a sale price of around a third of the price you paid for it. any other testers got a more accurate estimate?

also, as far as i know, depreciation is a flat rate. it doesnt matter how long you have owned something or how many times you have used it

One Third!!

Yikes... that's almost the same depreciation as a PC!, but then new models come out every few days... If I play FL for 2 years... I hope the new technology rate keeps up with the current depreciation rate, otherwise something fishys goin on!

I think shlozz made a pretty good estimate there, i dont know for sure, i know that guns, missile launchers etc. get sold for a LOT less than you buy them for. BUT! the mines, missiles, countermeasures, shield and nano's sell for the same price you buy them.

to sum up what MD said:
All the single-use items (ammo, repairstuff and countermeasures) are sold at the same price they are bought.
Everything else (guns, missile-,mine- and countermeasure launchers, Shields, Thrusters) are sold at a lower price IF YOU HAVE USED THEM. (that's at least what i experienced). For an unused gun a shopkeeper will pay you more than for a used one...

i have not noticed this, when i bought a 120k gun it showed as a 39k gun in my hold immedeatly, then when i went out and sold it a few hours later it was still 39k, maybe you just forgot to repair it after your last mission

Well this all sounds really cool. Ahh it sounds familiar to me with buying and selling stuff at lower price but cant think of it now. I know its a game. And Im sure we get the jist of what your saying md.
