Do you think the six year wait made it better?

Do you think the six year wait made it better?

I think that the six years has improved the game and content of the game more then if it was in development for just two or three.
What is your thought?

I'm not even sure if it was 6 years. Blame Tachyon if the number is wrong.

The long development time was due to the fact that Microsoft bought DA, they had to do some restructuring and a couple of those months, AFAIK, were used to incorporate some DirectX8 features into FL.

The long development time was due to a lot of things, not just MS. Anyway, I'm certain it is better for them anyway. If it was released when it was originally supposed to, it would be a worse game.

I think it was worhit. What there doing is amazing and it takes a large chunk of time to complete. also you have to keep up graphically.

Yep, if you look at the screen shots back when it was originally supposed to be released you can see how much the game has changed graphically. Plus with the Neuronet changes, you really would have had a very different beast if it had been released early 2001. Although the wait has been pretty long, Im certain Freelancer is a better game for it.

What's next for DA? Possibly a MOO?

They don't even own the rights for MoO! MS would be sued!

They have 2 dev teams. One is working on Brute Force, a game for XBox, and the other, which was working on Freelancer, will now prolly just relax. When they are done with vacation, they said they'll just come and get some ideas on what to do next, so no word yet. Maybe an FL2?

Merlin did you mean Mod?

Post Sat Feb 08, 2003 11:30 am

I think he means a MMORPG

Well there have been talks of a freelancer online, but by judging what i have seen i dunno if it will be released, since FL has in depth MP

It definitly looks like it was worth the wait, hell I would wait even longer if the game is really that good

Post Sat Feb 08, 2003 12:27 pm

Yeah, I don't really see the point for an FLO now...I mean FL Multiplay seems to be a reasonable package from what I have heard. Then again, I may be biased because I don't play online a whole lot, some may really want it.

Hmmm, it seems strange to be thinking about the next one......maybe FL2, I don't know, does the FL story leave you hanging for a sequel like SL did?

Yes, I meant MMO; slip of the key. Must be all of the the celebration of the day. What will the staff at DA start with now or will they continue on the "lancer" franchise?

As for the 6 year wait (about 4 1/2 for me), I will not know until I get my greedy hands on the final product.

I think from all I have seen since the games first announcements back when starlancer was in the worrks, that the wait is worth it.
As for what do they do next I would say that there's no need for acomplete FL2 game unless the y wanted ot bring the graphics etc further along to DX( stuff but rather like the privateer add on missions they could insert new story campaigns in the existing framework for one and possible add new features to enhance the experience. eg for an online player like me including voice talk in multiplayer rather than having to type would be a treat

I think anticipation is something which needs to be appreciated once again, today everyone seems to want everything NOW... whereas, the feeling of FINALLY laying ones hands on something longed for, for so long, is a great experience
