Political Systems

I read, that the house Rheinland has a two chamber system with a chancellor.
Its sounds like we have it right now in germany.
I think its cool, that Freelancer isnt just a Space-shooter, it has its own world.
But will the political systems have an effect on the game?
If so, can I take part in it, or will there be scripted events?

In the single player storyline, a lot of conflicts between the houses will arise, but besides that, like in multiplayer, then no. There will not be any political conflicts involved.

Yah, and the Liberty has a President and Britonia has a Queen.

A queen?!?!? 1000 years later and Elizabeth II still hasn't abdicated the throne, hmmm actually that's probably more believable.

So is it now "For Queen and galaxey!" or somthing like that?

Well, now your focusing on what the GAME should do and not what YOU can do. Cuz implementing something like that can really limit you on what you can do in the game.

No. Imagine I'm a U.S. soldier and I go on a killing rampage in Canada and kill some people. For the same of the argument I'll pretend I'm not thinking about EB. Anyway, before I'm captured and/or killed I kill like ten or twenty people. Canada isn't going to say to the U.S. "Ok your guy killed a bunch of our guys, let's go to war" because obviously my actions were not condoned, as I'm fairly certain Liberty would not condone you going around shooting up Rheinland people

Um....maybe a bit too much realism isnt good. Its a game thats supposed to revolve around you, not the houses.

Don't forget Franz Ferdinand folks, he was shot by a Yugoslavian(sp?) student and that started a chain of political events that brought on WWI.

It all really does depend on the current political situation though, if the two sides are pretty irate with each other one antaginiser could set off a war. If you need further proof look at the small skirmish that started between us and our pals at the X2 forums. All that was started by one or two trouble makers.

Okay i'll just shut up now because im so far off topic I can't even remember what the topic was about.

speaking of political systems, what is the overall political setup of the Sigma Sector?

youd think it would be the gov't type of the house that rules the sector

Well, speaking poltically, the 4 houses (in current politics) are pretty good allies. It would take some serious stuff to spark a war between them. I would think that in the future they would probably be even closer friends (united together against the coalition). War would not be sparked by one man's actions, especially by a "freelancer's"

Sigma sector? You mean the Sirius? It's fairly stable. I mean the major powers are neutral and all, and theres some turf wars between the various pirate groups, but no "we want your culture extinct" type wars going on... right now.
