Joystick - yes I know!

No joystick? Freaking ridiculous. I bought the original tribes, took it home, then found out.. no j/s. Its in the trash heap. Mouse fills up with goo and dustballs too quickly when used for more than surfing. A good j/s lasts for a long time and in mho is more comfortable to use. All your tactical necessities are at your fingertips at all times. No need to hunt and peck in battle for the right key or OOOPs the wrong one. I refuse to see that use of a joystick is 'impossible' in a space sim. That is hilarious. Thanks for the up front warning for me to save my money. Holler @ me when they get j/s support. Otherwise... don't.

ohh c'mon ali, my optical mouse already outlived my joystick x2! and i didnt even use a joystick that much. A mouse is not just for surfing, if you thik that you should just go back to playing pacman or whatever.

You remind me of the "fx" generation that perceives the quality of games solely on how good they look, except you apparently base it on the way you interface with it. I would play FL with a fricking NES control pad if I had to.

Hi guys! I'm new to the forum (even though reading it for quite a while) and i have to say this: in the beginning i was very sceptical about the whole "no joystick" issue. I thought it just wouldn't feel right. But after a while i got used to the idea and by now i'm completly confident that i will love it. Hey, Han Solo has no Joystick either, right?

I was pretty much on the edge about the cockpit thing though... if they would have left 'em out, i would probably have decided not to buy the game. Seriously. 1st person is mandatory for a space game like this, and struts add a whole lot of atmosphere to the experience, so i'd say they should be obligatory as well. Thankfully all the peeps of the community achieved that they are back in. Thank you, guys! This concludes my introduction to this forum. Let's freelance! Woohoo!

That's what I was thinking EB, Looks like he'll miss out on another excellent game, Because Tribes 1 was great...Tribes 2 is even better. His choice...

wow, 2 posts before I could post this...this is about the Ali guy who didn't like Tribes because no JS support...

Well...I do not have a problem using just a mouse for control...as long as it works well. And from the reviews i have read about Freelancer...it does seem to work really well. But I do think it would have been great if atleast the option to use a joystick was available. I am not sure how hard this would have been for the programmers to put into the game tho. And if it delayed the game some more...no way!
