He he, yes that's true, my fault...

7 km in 15 seconds is still slow, though.

but what would happen if you TOTALLY just TOTALED the trade ring, so it's flying in 34 different directions like halo did in the game HALOtm????
as in, the ring isn't there anymore...it can't repair itself there can it... and will there be just civilian vessels, unarmed carrying people to parties, or home??

So if a pirate hacks the trade lane, and every ship that comes to the broken point will stop when they hit the broken point. does that mean priates get to have a choice of what ship to take or end up having odds stacked against them coz a hole load of ships will pop out at the same point?

And do police also patrol the tradelanes? So u hack a trade lane waiting for some poor bloke to pop his head out and instead u find a police patrol.

I dont think you can totally destroy the trade lanes.

I disabled one and kept firing for quite some time and it didnt take any extra damage. Mind you by the time I finished there were alot of very angry police and commercial traders after me.

You cannot destroy any permanent objects in the sector, such as jump gates, space stations, non-storyline battleships, and so on. Thus, you cannot total a trade lane, for obvious reasons.

darn!!! i was looking forward to that lol... oh well. hey... can you attack vessles "INSIDE" the trade lane??? so say im just going about my buisness doing a patrol for liberty, some pirate attacks people in the tradelane, and all of a sudden im being pummled by destroyed ships falling out of nowhere...... lots of salvage, but is it possible?

Not really, theoretically you could but by the time you visually sighted a ship and started moving your mouse torwards it, it would probably already be a few KM away by the time you were ready to shoot

Post Tue Feb 04, 2003 5:47 am

what i meant was if your inside the trade lane with the potential target. since it would really be hard to attack from the outside...your right on that lol

LOL, actually i tried this out. But i didnt try to shoot them cuz they zip by you so fast. I just flew in the middle of the trade ring and let them fly to me. I thought that if they hit me, that would mean instant death but they just flew right through me!!! LOL

Yeah, they turn off clipping (or turn it on? I don't know the correct usage) for trade lanes to prevent collision problems. I have in fact lane jumped inside a transport

It's a good thing that 30th century science can make ships in the tradelanes pass through solid objects. Otherwise all some prankster would have to do is tow an asteroid into the tradelane and everyone zipping through would be killed.

Let's get those missiles ready to destroy the universe!!

Well when a group of ships (players in formation) goes through a trade lane, there can be an, erm, significant amount of rubberbanding if the server is bogged which would result in really bad problem. Also if you come out of a lane jump right behind another large ship you sometimes are flung right through it. Often times I'll come out of a lane and a second later be flung around wildly because a ship rammed me coming out
