Now, i'm not asking what the plot or story-line is gunna be, all i basically would like to comfirm is that theres not going to be some sloppy back ground tale of a bereaved guy who's lost his whole family in some sort of armaggendon massacre 10 years previous?? Does any-one have that information, or am i missing the whole "free-world"" open-ended" thing?

Well, theres the main story line which revolves around Edison Trent (or Trent Edison) and what happened was that Freeport 7 was destroyed, which was the space station which he was trading on. So hes a survivor. Them the story goes into why it happened and a whole bunch other things happen. The story is very tight and exciting. There arnt any low points.

The open endedness is just the fact that you are not forced all the time to take the single player story missions...just sometimes. But you are giving chances in between story missions to do whatever the hell you want. You can trade, explore, be a bounty hunter, etc. The list goes on.

well you die or finish the game, i dont know what the ending is but im sure since the plot is linear that there is only one, but its like morrowind when you finish you can still keep playing so it never really "ends"
