Freeport 7

Hiya Folks,

I'm getting ready to run a Freelancer RPG using the GURPS rules set and I have one quick question;

What system was Freeport 7 in?

I'd like to start my adventure story on Freeport 7 just before it is destroyed but the video game never mentions where it is.....or does it?
Does anyone have a guess as to where it is (was)?

Its not in any system. Just part of the opening story. There are a couple mods out that let you start there in Open SP with no story line. They created it for the mod. Chips Singleplayer Addon

So the opening story takes place in a system that doesn't exist? How does that make sence?!

They created a special system for it, all thats there are 3 suns, the scene is created by the THN files.

However Sigma 17 (Bw06) is where it's suppost to be set as they both have the same 3 suns.

Um, actually, theres the wreckage of a station close by Atka Research at coordinate 3E in Sigma 17-and the system has 3 suns, like the one in the sequence showing the station getting trashed-it's not tagged, so this is speculation only, but see it for yourself and decide from there

Fred the Dead has this correct, the wreckage in Sigma 17 is indeed that of Freeport 7. A close examination should reveal some similar components to both. The only puzzling thing about this is how it was defended by Liberty being all the way out there. Hopefully someone can mod the station back into Sig-17. It'd be nice to have another friendly base there.

Well, keep in mind that those fighters could have been purchased from Liberty to be used for patrols etc by the freeport, or not, its just up to your interpetation.

In terms of plot, it's in sigma-17, though in-game it has it's own specific system.

I've always been of the opinion that Freeport 7 was under Liberty control, in much the same way as Freeport 4 is an IMG base. A Zoner base out that far would not have been using Liberty Navy ships; Zoners use "Civilian" fighters (though all of those are of Liberty manufacture) and Dromedary freighters. It is also possible that those fighters were on LSF business in the area- that might also explain why it was a Liberty transport that picked up the station's survivors (a transport containing sensitive cargo, perhaps?) and took them straight back to Manhattan rather than the nearest planet.

Guys,
when you use Freelancer explorer on fl there is a system
called FP7_system.
Now THAT is where it should be.
